Legislative Update Week 3

Friends,
Week Three was an exciting one as we welcomed industry leaders, community advocates, and members of the Georgia National Guard to the State Capitol.
Walton County Bicentennial Day
On Tuesday, community leaders gathered under the Gold Dome to recognize Walton County’s 200th Anniversary Year. We were honored to have Governor Nathan Deal celebrate with us!
To mark this important moment in time, I introduced House Resolution 914, which outlines the history and achievements of Walton County and its residents. To read the full resolution, please click here.
Georgia Is Big On Tourism

Tuesday was also Tourism, Hospitality, and Arts Day at the Capitol and industry leaders were under the Gold Dome to celebrate the continued success of Georgia tourism. Annually, tourism brings in $60.8 billion dollars to our economy, employs more than 450,200 Georgians, and accounts for approximately 10.6% of the state’s non-farm workforce.  Governor Deal – and state lawmakers – were presented a check representing the $3.1 billion in state and local tax revenue generated by the tourism industry.
2018 Georgia National Guard Day
During Week Three, we also welcomed members of the Georgia Army National Guard, Georgia Air National Guard, and Georgia State Defense Force to the Capitol. These citizen soldiers are committed to our communities, state, and country, and we cannot thank them enough for their service.
House Page Program
The Georgia General Assembly invites students between the ages of 12 and 18 to the State Capitol for a hands on learning experience.
To apply, please follow the link to the House Page website. I look forward to seeing students from Walton County on the House Floor during the 2018 Legislative Session!
Touring the Capitol
The Georgia Capitol Museum offers guided tours for individuals and groups throughout the year. If you are planning to visit the Capitol this spring, these tours are a great opportunity to learn about the Capitol’s 120 year history, visit the Capitol Museum, and see Georgia’s lawmakers at work. Please visit the tour office website (here) to schedule your visit.
As always, it is an honor to represent you and your loved ones in the Georgia General Assembly.  Please feel free to call (404-656-5024) or email (bruce.williamson@house.ga.gov) with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Rep. Bruce Williamson
District 115
Georgia General Assembly
